One of the principal joys of kettlebell training is the variety of approaches they offer to both experienced trainers and beginners alike. If sheer strength and perhaps muscle bulk is the objective, say for the budding field athlete, footballer or bodybuilder, then heavy kettlebells can certainly be used for this purpose. But for the individual who is perhaps a little, or severely, overweight, or just wants to “get in shape”, and focus on general conditioning and aerobic capacity, there are numerous exercises which can be used to this end. Both kinds of training, should ideally be included for optimal progress. The famous kettlebell swing, for example, is perhaps the basis of all the best kettlebell workouts and will help develop the mobility and flexibility which is crucial even for the most serious of strength trainers.
